DC REVIEW
So the war of light begins as the DC universe celebrates the lives of the dead superheros. How ironic is that? It would seem that as the various colored lanterns are preoccupied with fighting each other the Black Lanterns begin to spread unnoticed. This was a great start to the summer's big event. Much better than Flash Rebirth. It's creepy and violent and just eerily wrong. To see Sue and Ralph Dibney back was chilling to say the least. These two have been through so much it hurts to see them brought back like this. This book has the air of being a universe changing event. It feels as if things can never be the same after this...and that is what make this story so good (unlike Final Crisis). So far, this was worth the wait and buildup. The best part for me is that I really don't know where this is heading. I know there has been lots speculation about what will happen, but I don't know. I don't want to know until I reach that final page in the final issue. {RISE} {FLESH}

INDIE REVIEWS
Chew #2
Ewwww. What a nasty concept for such a fun book. But then that's the way with most indie book, now isn't it? Now, this book must be good as the 1st issue has sold out and is going for nearly $40 on Ebay. It is interesting and keeps you wanting to know what is going to happen next, but all in all I just don't see what's so special about it. Maybe it's just me. I'm not all about the gross out. (My god that was an awfully 80's thing to say.) I'll keep reading for now, but I'm hoping for something awesome to come of it...soon.

The Unwritten #3
Now, in my world this book is far more Worthy of praise. In this issue I don't have a clue as to what is going on and I'm loving it. There is something very strange about the world of Unwritten even as it feels like it is very much like our own. There is anticipation with each issue that something big is going to be revealed that will change the whole nature of the Unwritten universe and give us a peak into a strange and wonderful place. Now most times I would be jumping up and down wanting to know this secret, but I'm not. I want it to come to me slowly...and it is. There is the potential here for this to turn out to be a Golden Classic, or an Epic Failure. I have faith in the former.

Farscape: Strange Detractors #4
I am so loving these Farscape books even though this was the weakest issue of the lot. the art was just bad and the writing and story ending bordered on the ridiculous. In this issue Criton super sizes some of the single celled anti-viruses to battle the evil viruses...Yeah it is pretty lame. But you can't win them all and the first three issues were actually pretty good. Too bad it had to end this way. But all in all I love these character and can't wait for more!

Green Lantern #43
At last we finally get a glimpse into the world of the Black Lanterns. Though not a lot happens here we do find out just dark the Blackest Night is going to be as the Black Hand becomes the embodiment of the Black Corps. This may be a first as well in that a Green Lantern doesn't appear in the book except in flash backs. I'm all giddy to find out what happens next. This was great, if somewhat slow start to one of the most anticipated events in recent comic history.

Superman: World of New Krypton #5
I liked this, because it was what Superman is all about. He is a hero who will not be turned even in the face of his death. It is inspiring enough to affect Zod...ZOD! and is believable. I'm really liking this story and hope that there are some great surprise yet in store.

Batman #688
Dick. Dick Dick Dick. That's what this issue is all about...Dick! Dick trying to be sure of himself. Dick trying to fill the shoes of Bruce. Dick trying to instruct Damian in the ways of the Force...Bat force that is. It's good, but nothing really happens. We get to see the Penguin and Two Face. And from the 1st page we know that Dick gets the shit kicked out of him at some point. I'm still looking forward to what going to happen.

MARVEL REVIEWS
Fantastic Four #568
Where in continuity is this book taking place? It certainly doesn't appear to be in the current Marvel universe, which is a shame because the story here is actually better than the Dark Reign / Norman Osborn rules the world story eating up the rest of the Marvel Universe. And that makes it very hard to get invested in the FF. I don't want to care about what is happening if in the end it's not going to count...it never happened...this isn't the same FF as the 616 FF. It would be better if someone would just come out and say this.

Uncanny X-Men #512
This was pretty cool, all steam punk and like. Again I like the story here of Beast trying to find a way of reversing the events of M-Day, then the current Dark Reign snooze fest. It's always cool when the Dark Beast shows up. It was kind of crappy that the two Beasts didn't interact. All in All though I am not going to complain about this issue...it's far better than what's to come.

Uncanny X-Men #513: Utopia Chapter 2
The Dark Reign story line is really ruining some of my favorite characters. Why would Emma act like this? I just don't see her joining up with Norman and ditching everything she has built for herself with the X-Men. And Cloak and Dagger being a part of this team make even less sense them Emma joining up and Leading. Namor? I don't care about Namor...I do think they set this up well enough that he would do this if Emma asked him and gave him a good reason. But that's not even the worst of the worst...Mystique agreeing to have nanobots injected into her so that Norman can control her? Yeah, I think not. I am not a hater...but this is stupid.

The Authority #12
Abnett and Lanning, you gotta love these guys. They are currently writing Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, War of King, and all the War of Kings tie ins and still they have time to write the The Authority and have it come out on time every month. And it's good, Great even. In this issue Midnighter is faced with his worst nightmare, an out of control Apollo. But he is Midnighter and he'll do what he has to do. My one complaint is that this story seems to be on fast forward. I would rather A & L would slow down a little to get the extra emotional impact that seems to be lacking here.

Echo #13
This book is so written for the trade. Each issue just seems to stop and I keep turning the pages looking for more story only to realize that it's the end. And dear god is this slow...In the previous issue Julie was running away from her pursuers. In this issue Julie was running away from her pursuers. I want some better explanation about just what is happening to her. I would like to say that each issues give bit and pieces of mystery...but they are barely crumbs. Come on Terry take a lesson from The Authority and move it forward!

The Astounding Wolf-Man #17
In this issue Wolf-Man doesn't die from the sword his daughter has plunged through his chest. I really don't think that is much of a spoiler as there wouldn't be much of a book without him. No, he finally confronts his daughter and we get some pay off on that story line. I'm hoping we are seeing the beginnings of some awesome action as the many enemies of The Astounding Wolf-Man are moving in. And now we have the possibility of a new side kick. This was a pretty good issue all in all...just good.

Marvel Divas #1 of 4
Who knew what to expect from this mini. I had hopes for it, but they weren't very high. To my surprise I found the start to a funny and moving story of some character's we haven't seen much of in a while. I really wasn't expecting the book to break the 4th wall, but it did and it did it, I must say, better than Deadpool. I had sworn off mini series especially because Marvel has been charging $3.99 and issue. This was worth the money. The only real down side is that this is a mini and not an ongoing. Here's to the ladies!

War of Kings #5 of 6
And the award for best fake out cliffhanger goes to War of Kings #5. Marvel Cosmic is awesome...as good as DC. This series has not disappointed and neither have any of the tie ins. But then this is one of if not the best writing teams out there. Vulcan is a punk ass bitch and we get to see that. He really doesn't know what he is doing and going up against the spite and intellect of the Inhuman's will lead to his end. That is my prediction. Vulcan must die...uh huh.

Deadpool: Merc with a mouth #1
Well, it's Deadpool in another book. It was as good as his other book "Deadpool" but there wasn't anything new here. This could have just been the next arc in the first book. Why did we need another book. I love Deadpool, don't get me wrong. but this just was not necessary. AND WHAT WAS WITH THE FUCKING REPRINT! Marvel, you are such a bitch when you do this. This is why I'm quickly becoming a much bigger DC fan. At least we get original material in the back of the book. Grrrr....

Green Lantern Corps #38
Well this ends the Prelude to the Blackest Night. Good God, finally we get to get on with it. I love this book and can't wait to get to the meat of the story. In this issue the brutality of the Guardians comes to full light. Who exactly are the good guys? It would seem that Kyle and Guy aren't so sure of the answer to that question either. My question is, are the other Guardians really that blind that they don't see what Scar is doing? But, then again, look at what they are doing themselves. Great Issue.

Ok, I had my doubts about this series. I am one of those few people who really didn't see what was so great about All Star Superman. But I'm really liking this book. I even like the art which didn't thrill me in the other series. Batman and Robin has the feeling of being a classic. I'm so involved with Dick's emotions as he tries to take over the role as Batman. I feel like I've been there and can relate. I've known little bitches like Damien too and wanted to throttle them. I don't want Bruce to come back too soon because I'm feeling it...yeah.

MARVEL REVIEWS
Nova #26
Nova's got his groove back. This issue is why I love this character. He shows a confidence and strength of will that has developed over time. He is steadily becoming everthing that Hal Gordan is to the Green Lanterns. But unlike Hal, Richard Rider is earning his place as one of the greatest heroes in comic history. A must...

Guardians of the Galaxy #15
Oh Cosmo, who knew a dog with a bad Russian accent could become such a powerful part of the Guardians. This book has a charm that goes beyond the page; you don't just root for the heroes, you LOVE them. You would think the joke of "I am Groot!" would get old after awhile, but I laugh every time.
[10 of 10]
X-Factor #45
Though I spoiled it before, this is the issue when we finally get to see Shatterstar and Rictor get it on...or...at least kiss. The funny thing is that I don't even care about the story here. I really couldn't tell you what is going on with Jamie and Layla, but I love them...even if their relationship is kind of creepy. I want to know the real history between Shatterstar and Rictor. Cortex, shamoortex. The one problem that I did have...Dr. Doom should never need a bib.
[9 of 10]
Dark Avengers / Uncanny X-Men: UTOPIA #1
Ok, been here, done that. I'm surprised I like this as much as I did. But please can we get over the mutant hate as an excuse to push another story along that has nothing to really do with the X-Men? I'm not a hater, I love comics but with the talent out there right now perhaps a different direction could have been taken. Still a good read and a book with a page count worth Marvels $3.99.
[7 of 10]
X-Force #16
The more things change... God, I love the art in this book. I've heard a lot of people put it down, but I love it. It's good to have X-Force leaving the Messiah story line for now. Really the book doesn't fit into the X-Universe like it should and that might be because it's better then most of the other X books. Well, I'm looking forward to more.
